On August 18, 2009 the Federal Transit Administration issued the Central Corridor LRT Record of Decision.
A Record of Decision documents the finding by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) that the Metropolitan Council has met the requirements of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) for the Central Corridor Light Rail Transit Project. The ROD describes the project, alternatives considered, the public opportunity to comment, the public comments and responses, and the basis for the decision and mitigation measures required.
On August 26, 2009 the Metropolitan Council took action determining the adequacy of the Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS).
Under Minnesota Environmental Rules, the Metropolitan Council of the Twin Cities in the Responsible Governmental Unit (RGU) for the Central Corridor Light Rail Transit project. Acting as the RGU, the Metropolitan Council is charged with making an Adequacy Determination regarding the FEIS for the Central Corridor project.
With the issuance of the ROD and the finding of FEIS adequacy made by the Council, the federal and Minnesota environmental processes are completed.
