Livable Communities grant agreement amendment procedures

9-9-09

Introduction

The Metropolitan Council ("Council") anticipates that grantees will complete their projects within the timelines and conditions identified in their grant applications and grant agreements. However, occasionally circumstances outside the control of the grantee may delay project implementation or create the potential for changes to the end project. The Council may consider amendments to grant agreements under these conditions. Grantees should contact Livable Communities (LCA) staff as soon as possible to discuss possible changes in projects or grant agreement timelines.

Timing considerations

All amendments must be executed by both parties prior to the expiration date in the current grant agreement. Grantees are cautioned to allow sufficient time for all required processing, presentations, approvals, and execution. Once a grant agreement expires, it will not be amended.

Special notes

  • Grant agreements issued after 12/7/2007 include language requiring grantees to advise the Council of any changes to the end development or redevelopment project, as described in Attachment A of the grant agreement, as soon as those changes are known.

Process

All requests to amend an LCA grant agreement must be made in writing to LCA grants administration staff. Information provided must include the proposed amendment(s) and an explanation as to why the proposed change(s) is/are necessary.

The process for reviewing and approving amendment requests differs depending upon the type of amendment needed. Click on the links below to jump to the desired information.
