Medtronic, the global medical technology firm, has its headquarters in Fridley. The company also has a large manufacturing plant in the city.
Fridley was built largely during the 1950s and 1960s. Typical of the city’s residential areas is this tree-lined street of ramblers.
One of Minnesota’s oldest buildings is the Banfill-Locke Center for the Arts in Fridley. It was built in 1847 as an inn for soldiers and fur traders, and later added a post office and general store. For much of the 1900s it was a farm and summer home. Today it is owned by Anoka County and is on the National Register of Historic Places.
Rice Creek intersects Fridley and creates a green corridor to its outlet at the Mississippi River. The Rice Creek West Regional Trail follows the creek through the city.
Target has a large distribution center in Fridley and has just opened a new superstore north of I-694 and west of Central Avenue.
