One of the oldest structures in Dayton is the McNeil Building in the historic village area of Dayton. Its owner, Dayton City Council Member Tim McNeil, said that no good records exist but that he believes at least one half of the structure was built in the 1880s.
Nature’s Crossing is a new development in the southeast part of Dayton, adjacent to Elm Creek Park Reserve.
The Mississippi River serves as Dayton’s northern boundary.
An historic former schoolhouse and village hall still stands in Dayton. Though currently vacant, residents hope someday to reopen the building as the home of the local historical society.
