The Transportation Advisory Board is scheduled to begin discussion of funding options for the 2009 Regional Solicitation at its meeting on January 20 and is scheduled to decide on a funding package from the 2009 Regional Solicitation at its February 17 meeting.
All the applications that passed the qualifying criteria have been scored by the respective project scoring groups. The chairs of those scoring groups reported their scores to the Technical Advisory Committee’s Funding and Programming Committee on September 17. The committee acted upon challenges to the preliminary scores at its meeting on October 29. The final scores (pdf) are now available.
Federal transportation projects in the Twin Cities region that are funded through the Surface Transportation Program (STP), the Congestion Mitigation/Air Quality Improvement Program (CMAQ), the Transportation Enhancements program (TE) as well as the Bridge Improvement or Replacement Program (BIR) are chosen through the Regional Solicitation process. Following the 2009 Regional Solicitation, The Transportation Advisory Board is expected to award approximately $190 million in STP, CMAQ, TE, and BIR funding and include these projects in the 2011-2014 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP).
The selected projects and programs will be programmed for construction or implementation in 2013 and 2014 as part of the region’s Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) for 2011-2014. The 2011–2014 TIP will be drafted in March 2010 and adopted in September 2010. Notification of applicants “to proceed” by MnDOT State Aid is anticipated to occur in November or December of 2010. However, applicants are encouraged to contact State Aid to begin project development as soon as they are ready to do so.
