Stretching from St. Paul to just beyond Hastings, the Upper Mississippi River corridor has been an environmental, economic and cultural asset for generations of Minnesotans. River stakeholders have created an action framework to prioritize investment and implementation of projects along this important stretch of the river.
The purpose of the initiative is to help ensure the future vitality of the Upper Mississippi River corridor by unifying the efforts and visions of all riverfront partners into a cohesive investment and implementation plan.
The goal is to integrate existing community planning efforts into an action framework for revitalization, development and preservation of the Mississippi Riverfront corridor.
The initiative was funded by the McKnight Foundation and coordinated by the Metropolitan Council with help from Calthorpe Associates. The initiative involves community leaders, environmental advocates, land developers, transportation specialists, non-profits and local citizens.
