ST. PAUL—July 16, 2007 – The Metropolitan Council will hold a public hearing on
July 31 in Oak Grove to receive comments on a proposed amendment to its 2030 Water Resources Management Policy Plan.

The Metropolitan Council’s proposed amendment will revise the long-term regional wastewater service area for the City of Oak Grove.  The entire city is currently shown as an area that can have “potential sewered development by a wastewater treatment plant with rapid infiltration” (groundwater recharge). The proposed amendment designates the southeastern portion of the city as most feasible for future sewered development with wastewater service provided by the proposed East Bethel regional wastewater treatment plant and rapid infiltration system.

The public hearing will be at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 31, at Oak Grove City Hall (Council Chambers), 19900 Nightingale St. N.W., Oak Grove, Minnesota.
