Benefits

The Metropolitan Council’s employees are a key to our agency’s success.  In order to attract and retain high quality employees, the Council provides a highly competitive benefits package both in choice and coverage levels.  The design of our benefits program reflects robust coverage in medical, dental, life insurance, disability benefits, paid time away from work, voluntary benefits, and resources to maintain a healthy lifestyle.  All benefits programs are developed to comply with applicable laws, regulations, policies and labor agreements.

Employee Development Plans
You and your manager may create a customized development plan. The plan may help improve performance on current tasks or develop your abilities to meet new challenges. The Individual Development Plan may include:

    • On-the-job development
    • Feedback, coaching or mentoring
    • Work assignments that stretch — and strengthen — your skills.
    • Courses and workshops

Our Learning and Organizational Development (LOD) department can help by providing individual career consultation and coaching.

Tuition Reimbursement
We reimburse eligible employees for the cost of budgeted, job-related courses. These courses directly relate to your current position and fit with the goals of your work unit or your individual development plan.

Mentoring and Peer Support Programs

Our Mentoring and Peer Support Program can help ease the burden of personal issues for employees. These programs support and strengthen employees to manage responsibilities at work and home.

Workplace Wellness Programs
Through activities and events, "Fit for Life" teaches and motivates employees to improve their personal health choices. We believe that helping our employees to positively affect their health is good business and the right thing to do.
