This map shows the estimated number of septic systems by community for many of the townships is from the Council's 1997 household estimates. A few data points are from a 1995 Council study of septic systems. The Metropolitan Council has sponsored the development of a database that can be used by communities to manage and track individual sewage treatment systems (ISTS).
