Status of MCES Liquid Waste Receiving Facilities

Last Updated: 11/13/09

This following information is intended for persons interested in changes to the MCES Liquid Waste Receiving Facilities planned for 2009. MCES will update this page as new information become available. If you have specific questions regarding these changes, please contact:

Metro Liquid Waste Receiving (LWR) Facility - Directions and map. The Metro LWR Facility is fully operational and open to accept loads 7 days a week, 24 hours per day.  There are six discharge ports available to haulers at this site.  There is also a break room with a restroom and vending.  The Metro LWR is the only MCES facility/disposal site to accept industrial loads and haulers carrying industrial loads must have a specific activity code to gain access.  The 3rd and Commercial disposal site should only be used for grease trap loads over 500 gallons, or unless otherwise specifically directed by MCES to do so.

Fridley LWR Facility- Directions and map. This facility is staffed and open to accept loads of Domestic, Holding Tank and Portable Toilet wastewater. Winter Hours are Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The site is closed on Sundays, as well as Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Years Day. Winter hours are in effect November 2 - April 5, 2010. If additional hours are needed, haulers must contact their MCES permit engineer 14 days in advance to see if arrangements can be made. Haulers would be required to cover the additional cost of operating the facility. Haulers must be issued a PIN number to utilize the facility and must provide their own discharge hose.  Discharge ports at the facility are 6 inches in diameter with 3 and 4 inch adaptors available.

Chanhassen LWR Facility- The Chanhassen facility near Park Place and Park Road will be upgraded with an entry system and will include a system to determine load volumes. Currently this project is in the design phase.

Empire LWR Facility- Located at MCES’s Empire wastewater treatment plant near Farmington, this facility will also be upgraded with a scale and entry system and is at the same stage as the Chanhassen LWR.

Blue Lake LWR Facility- Construction of a new disposal facility and scale is underway at the MCES Blue Lake Treatment Plant. The new facility will be located on the southeast end of the plant grounds. It will be equipped with the same scale system as at Metro LWR. Projected completion of this project is expected in 2010.
