2008 - 2017 Capital Improvement Program

Project #8060, Interceptor 1-MN-320 Reconnection & Rehab.

Description:

This project involves the reconnection of some local Minneapolis sewers. This project was originally included as part of the Minneapolis 1-MN-320 Improvements project. Alternatives to the original design are being evaluated by the City of Minneapolis and the Metropolitan Council. Access to upstream sewer capacity problems in Interceptors 1-GV-460 and 1-GV-461 are also being studied as part of this project. The project also includes the construction of a new access shaft and crown repair to a section of Interceptor 1-MN-320.

Purpose and Justification:

To correct uncovered weakness and problem areas in the pipe to avoid potential collapses and the costs associated with their required emergency repairs. In addition, the improvements are being made in conjunction with the City of Minneapolis' Near Northside Redevelopment project. This joint project effort results in some added savings.
