Project #8033, Metro Liquid Waste Discharge Site

Description:

The project consists of the design and construction of a new liquid waste discharge facility at the Metro Plant. The facility will replace the current disposal site for liquid haulers located at 3rd & Commercial Street in St. Paul. The new discharge facility at the Metro Plant will be designed to accommodate the increased volume of liquid waste haulers resulting from the recommended closure of the existing interceptor discharge sites

Purpose and Justification:

The MCES gate structure located at 3rd & Commercial Street in St. Paul is the current disposal site for liquid haulers. Because of increased urban development in this area and a corresponding desire to avoid extensive truck traffic within a growing residential area, the MCES has agreed with St Paul's request to provide a new facility. Following an evaluation of alternative locations throughout the Minneapolis and St Paul area, the relocation of the facility to the Metro Plant was determined to be the most viable alternative.
