| Project #8025, Riverview Siphon (SP-230) | |
Description: The project consists of improvements to the existing three-barrel Riverview Siphon (1-SP-230). The siphon extends from the siphon inlet at intersection of Wabasha St and Isabel St. (river bluff) along Wabasha St. under the Mississippi River across Raspberry Island terminating at the east bluff near Shepard Road. The proposed project consists of the replacement of the inlet structure and the siphon barrels between the inlet and the west bank of the river. The project will also renovate the siphon barrels beneath the river.
|
The siphon was constructed in the 1930's. The original pipe beneath the river was replaced in 1978. The original piping beneath the river was abandoned. The inlet structure and siphon barrels built in the 1930's are at the end of their useful life.
