Seventy percent of all “Go-To College” pass rides are taken on Metro Transit buses; 24 percent on other regional providers and six percent on light rail.

Why did students buy the pass? Of those surveyed, 34 percent of respondents said price of the pass was a motivating factor, 28 percent said they had no car and 25 percent said they believe in the benefits of public transportation.

Among other findings:

  • 26 percent of the respondents are new transit users
  • 57 percent are either freshmen or sophomores
  • 29 percent said that they would drive more if not for the pass
  • 49 percent of the rides are during times other than rush hour
  • 70 percent of the rides are on Metro Transit buses, 24 percent on regional provider buses and 6 percent on rail

When asked if they would buy another pass in the spring, 91 percent of the respondents said they would.
