The Metropolitan Housing and Redevelopment Authority (Metro HRA) has once again earned the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s highest possible rank for the implementation of its Section 8 housing program for 2008. This marks Metro HRA’s fifth consecutive year earning the rank of “High Performer.”
To earn the distinction, the HRA earned 143 of the possible 145 points – plus 5 bonus points – resulting in an overall score of 102%.
Housing and Livable Communities Director Beth Reetz, who oversees Metro HRA at the Metropolitan Council, was justly proud of the achievement.
“HRA’s receipt of this high honor is due to the 40 Metro HRA staff members that work diligently and efficiently, day-in and day-out, resulting in high quality work,” she said. “The honor does not come without solid quality control systems and dedicated staff doing consistently excellent work.”
Under the federal assessment, public housing agencies that administer the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program are rated on 14 key indicators. The indicators ensure that:
The assessment is designed to help HUD and Congress grade an agency’s success in meeting the intended legislative goals for the program.
