Metropolitan Council decisions impact everyone who lives or works in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. We want to create plans that reflect community values and have community support, and we encourage the public to become involved and contribute to the decision-making process.
Our region is expected to add nearly a million more people between 2000 and 2030. Our challenge is to protect and enhance the region's quality of life as we prepare for this growth. Want to help? Get involved — you can make a difference. Here's how:
Share your view on issues the Council is debating at public meetings, or via a phone call to 651 602-1500 (comments will be recorded) or an email message to data.center@metc.state.mn.us.
You may also provide public comment on agenda items at committee meetings and on general matters under the purview of the Council at any full Council meeting. More on how to comment on Council issues.
All Council and Advisory Committee meetings are open to the public. Videos of most meetings are also available live or on demand. You can help shape your community's future by attending meetings on land use, transit, or environmental issues. See
Public input is welcome at Council meetings and committee meetings. The Council recommends public input take place on specific agenda items at the appropriate Council standing or advisory committee, rather than at meetings of the full Council. In addition, time is reserved at the beginning of each full Council meeting for members of the public to provide input on non-agenda items.
Council members welcome citizen input. Contact your Council member to share your opinions or concerns. A phone call, letter or email message can make difference. See the list of Council members.
Sharing your time or financial support with a group working for a clean environment, affordable housing, or transportation options can make a big difference.
The Metropolitan Council needs people to help plan for the future. Get involved!
