The Metropolitan Council is committed to maximizing the effectiveness and value of regional services and investments – and being accountable for results. Toward this end, the Council has adopted two sets of performance indicators.
Along with 22 other Cabinet-level departments, the Council was directed by the Governor to identify its priority goals and develop performance indicators to measure progress toward achieving these goals. Each agency provides updated results twice a year. See the Council's four goals and results (on the Minnesota state website).
In its 2030 Regional Development Framework, adopted in 2004, the Council articulated its goals and strategies for ensuring the orderly, economical development of the seven-county metro area and the efficient use of regional systems. For the first time, the Framework includes benchmarks for measuring the progress of the region toward the goals of the plan. The results are updated annually. See the most recent Framework benchmarks (pdf).
