From green rooftops and streambank restoration to hybrid buses and cleaner-burning fuels, the Council is committed to fostering a healthy environment, saving energy, and implementing sustainable solutions throughout all its operations.
Regional parks
Council facilities
- The Regional Administration building achieved the EPA's highest Energy Star rating for energy-efficiency, using 40% less energy than average commercial buildings.
- Metro Transit's facilities are reducing energy costs by 5% in 2009, 25% in 2010, and 30% -- more than $1.1 million -- in 2011.
- Environmental Services' wastewater treatment plants are significantly reducing their energy use.
