Sherry Broecker
Metropolitan Council Member, District 12

Sherry Broecker was appointed to the Metropolitan Council by Governor Tim Pawlenty in 2007. She represents District 12, which includes all of Washington County except Hugo, Landfall and Oakdale.

Broecker, a resident of Forest Lake, has a wealth of experience in state and local government.  A member of the Minnesota House from 1994 to 2000, Broecker chaired the House Judiciary Finance Committee. She previously served seven years on the Vadnais Heights City Council. She also served as president of the Vadnais Heights Economic Development Authority and as vice president of the Ramsey County League of Local Governments.

She currently serves as vice chair of the Forest Lake Planning Commission and as a member of the Minnesota Zoo Board of Directors.

Broecker also has a strong background in business. For 20 years, she operated her own custom picture framing business, The Frame Broeckers.  She currently works as a sales consultant for Bachman’s in Maplewood.

On the Metropolitan Council, Broecker serves on the Management and Community Development Committees.

A graduate of North High School in North St. Paul, Broecker attended the University of Minnesota. She and her husband Jerry have three children.
