Polly Bowles
Metropolitan Council Member, District 5

Polly Bowles was appointed to the Metropolitan Council by Governor Tim Pawlenty in June 2008. She represents District 5, which includes the Hennepin County cities of Bloomington, Edina and Richfield, and the unorganized territory of Fort Snelling.

Bowles, a community volunteer and stay-at-home mother, was an attorney with the Minneapolis law firm of Faegre and Benson and previously practiced law with a firm in Los Angeles.

Bowles formerly served on the Metropolitan Council from 1991 to 1993, during which time she was vice-chair. She has also served on the State Advisory Council on Metropolitan Governance, Minnesota Compensation Council, Christ Presbyterian Church Steering/Building Committee, Family Hope Services/TreeHouse board of directors, Minneapolis Fire Department public relations, has been a Sunday school teacher and was president of the PTA.

Bowles earned her bachelor’s and law degrees from the University of Minnesota. She lives in Edina with her husband, Dan, and their four sons.
