The Metropolitan Council in 2006 hosted a series of eight free technical workshops to help local officials, planning staff, engineers and consultants prepare comprehensive plan updates. Presented by Council staff and other subject matter experts, On Course workshops offer tips, case study examples and resources to address specific elements for plan documents.
On Course workshops were designed to help communities prepare their updates and ensure their plans conform to the Council’s Regional Development Framework and Policy Plans. Participants earned course certificates by completing five of the eight workshops.
Cities, counties and townships throughout the seven-county metropolitan region must update and submit comprehensive plans to the Metropolitan Council by December 31, 2008. Participants also learned about key portions of the Council’s Local Planning Handbook, which includes links to a number of planning resources, reports, guides and examples.
