The 2005 Minnesota State Legislature passed a measure that directs the Metropolitan Council to carry out planning activities addressing the water supply needs of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. To assist the Council in its planning activities the legislature established the Metropolitan Area Water Supply Advisory Committee. The Advisory Committee, which was instrumental in the development of the Metropolitan Area Master Water Supply Plan, is currently meeting twice per year to hear updates on the plan implementation and discuss any other relevant water supply topics.
