| Project #8054, Bloomington-Edina-Richfield Area Improvements | |
Description: The capacity of interceptor 1-RF-491 serving portions of Edina and Richfield will be exceeded in the future. The projected increase in flow is primarily due to a higher density redevelopment trend along the I-494 corridor in Edina and Richfield. A relief sewer to off-load interceptor 1-RF-491 will be constructed. It will consist of a new gravity interceptor, approximately 21,000 lineal feet (LF) in length with an estimated pipe diameter of 36-inches. The project also included relocating a portion of existing interceptor 1-RF-491 that was affected by MnDOT’s bridge project at I35W and 76th Street. |
This project addresses the reliability, redundancy, and capacity in the gravity interceptors within the Bloomington, Edina, and Richfield area. This project is being driven by redevelopment in the I-494 corridor and Southdale areas. The existing interceptors are operating near capacity. Edina and Richfield have presented preliminary redevelopment proposals, which are consistent with Council policy.
